Manchester City Council - Work Club Grant Funding

24 Jan 2013 - 11:22 by michelle.foster

Manchester City Council (MCC) recognises the important role Work Clubs play in providing flexible and informal employment support to workless Manchester residents.

In late 2011, Manchester City Council in partnership with JCP surveyed all 23 active Work Clubs to identify the challenges they face in delivering support to unemployed residents. Through the survey, Work Club leaders identified a number of delivery challenges where MCC and JCP could provide support.

As a direct result of the survey findings, Manchester City Council (MCC) is offering Grant Funding Awards to be made to organisations that deliver Work Club services.

Purpose
1. The aim of the Grant Award is to contribute to Manchester City Council’s priority of increasing the number of Manchester residents who are working, as identified in the 2012/13 Manchester Work and Skills Plan. In particular it will:
• Support the development of Work Clubs in the most deprived areas with the aim of sustainability and supporting volunteers to deliver quality provision

2. This funding provides an opportunity for established Work Clubs in Manchester to pilot activity that will improve outcomes for their clients. Specifically, this funding is to undertake activities that will:
• Improve the quality of services provided to Work Club clients
• Improve the sustainability of Work Club delivery

Applicants must:
• Be a not-for-profit organisation/Voluntary and community organisations
• Be based in the City of Manchester and currently delivering Work Club activity
• Be registered with Job Centre Plus as a Work Club
