RECLAIM are at the planning stages of the festival and want to open it up to everyone from Moss Side to get involved to help plan the event. RECLAIM are looking for volunteers to get involved, share knowledge and skills to make the first ever Moss Side food festival a huge success. RECLAIM will be meeting regularly and are looking for people to get involved. Reclaim

Moss Side Pride are seeking to change perceptions of the area they love by putting on a food festival like no other to celebrate to the outside world the talent and cultures within Moss Side.

The group will meet and talk to people, groups, schools and businesses to get them involved and to find the best cooking in the area. Moss Side has over 130 languages spoken we know there is a wealth of cooking styles and tastes to explore.

The idea is simple. Find the best cooks in Moss Side they prepare the food for the event at various community centres and come together to share with the rest of Manchester. People attending will pay a small entrance fee, be given a plate and cutlery (less waste) and can taste any of the incredible food on offer, there will be a kids service area as they often get forgotten about at food festivals.

For a long time food festivals have been the preserve of those with money, RECLAIM wants theirs to be a statement of sharing and a celebration of family cooking.

The talent of the area will also be shown on the day with arts, music, cooking demonstrations and competitions.

The Moss Side Food Festival will be taking place on 13 May 2017, 12pm-4pm at Alexandra Park, Moss Side.

Moss Side Pride is putting together a truly unique event this summer.

RECLAIM is a values based charity with young people at its core. The organisation has an outstanding track record of delivering forward thinking programmes which inspire young people to develop the skills to create positive social change.
