Mud Garden and Spiders - Hulme Community Garden Centre Story

22 Sep 2017 - 16:10 by Nigel Rose

Come rain, wind or shine the Garden Explorers group takes place every week - outdoors when possible. Activities might differ but fun is always guaranteed, often getting a little messy!

Hulme Community Garden Centre’s Garden Explorers group provides a clean, safe and green space for toddlers and parents to pull on their wellies and explore the community garden together. Gathering natural materials to make crafts, make seed bombs and spiders, or just getting a little mucky in the mud garden or kitchen planting fruit, vegetables and beautiful flowers. Children absolutely love spending time here, getting back to nature and bonding with their parents.

I held my little girl's 6th birthday party at the community garden centre yesterday. She was very adamant that she wanted her party there as she loves it! Had the polytunnel which is already beautifully decorated. Loads of space for children's dancing and games, oh, and for family and friends to sit and watch with a brew/ snack from the cafe! Many parents commented they hadn't been to the garden centre before and said they loved it too! Thank you and see you all very soon.

The emphasis of the group is a creative, warm and inviting environment with learning areas that are filled with potential activities that invite children to explore, providing an environment that is rich in sensory impact.

There are so many benefits: not only is this group great for children but also assists in increasing social interactions for parents, enabling them to meet new people and gain additional support. With some even returning to become volunteers.

You and your children will never forget this little slice of heaven.
