NCVO (National Council for Voluntary Organisations) and Nesta’s Centre for Innovation in Finance are interested in learning about community and voluntary organisations' fundraising needs and their awareness or usage of crowdfunding.
By taking part in the survey, you will help Nesta and NCVO better understand how to support community and voluntary organisations such as yours to make the most of these new methods. Lessons from the survey will also be used to shape policy recommendations on how government can best support crowdfunding for community and voluntary organisations and their activities.
Those answering this survey will need to have a good understanding of how their organisation raises funds.
The survey should take no more than 15 min to complete and participants can win a £250 donation to a charity of their choice.
Nesta and NCVO will publish the lessons in a report which will be free to the public.
The survey is for any employees or volunteers (including trustees) involved in fundraising for a charities, social enterprises or community groups
Background
In 2014 crowdfunding helped raise more than £1.7 billion for projects and organisations across the UK. However, while this fast growing market is rapidly transforming how funding and investment is happening across the private sector, still very little is known about the state of crowdfunding within civil society in the UK, including what is the current usage, awareness and perception of crowdfunding among community and voluntary organisations.

Crowdfunding is the practice of funding a project or venture by raising many small amounts of money from a large number of people via the Internet, often using dedicated online crowdfunding platforms.
