Out of hours support provision for residents suffering mental health problems

31 Jul 2015 - 10:21 by michelle.foster

Following the overwhelming success of its existing all night mental health crisis services, The Sanctuary has been commissioned to provide 24 hour mental health crisis support to residents across Manchester - including Salford, Trafford, Tameside and Glossop.

The Sanctuary 24 hour mental health crisis line will launch in August 2015.

However, local residents (aged 18+) or those registered with a GP in your area, can already access The Sanctuary overnight service, operating from 8pm – 6am, which provides a place of safety and support, welcoming people experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, low mood and / or suicidal thoughts outside of usual office hours.

The Sanctuary provides an important alternative to people who, in the past, have gone to A&E services when experiencing a mental health crisis during the night.

Clients can access the service by calling The Sanctuary on 0161 637 0808. Following a conversation with trained Sanctuary staff, the caller will then be offered telephone support or they will be invited to come to The Sanctuary for one-to-one support.

Please note: The Sanctuary do not accept referrals from people with severe and enduring mental health issues. The Sanctuary has a strict inclusion/exclusion policy and is a primary care mental health commissioned service.
