Over 55s Overcoming Anxiety Group

10 May 2017 - 11:21 by michelle.foster

Most of us suffer from anxiety in our life. However, for some of us, it can take over our lives, with excessive worrying, getting panicky a lot and having panic attacks. If you are over 55 and anxiety is affecting your life, the Overcoming Anxiety group is here to help.

Over ten weeks this group will help you understand:
• What anxiety is and how it affects our bodies and minds
• Strategies to overcome it and take better care of yourself
• How to be kinder to yourself
• How to think differently and do things differently

How does the group work?
• The group sessions run for 10 consecutive weeks
• Each session lasts 2 hours with a comfort break in between and where light refreshments are available
• There is no pressure on anyone to talk – the group is a safe place for you to learn about anxiety and how to become more relaxed

The next course is starting: Thursday 15 June 2017, 10am-12pm, for 10 weeks, every Thursday, at Gaskell House Psychotherapy Services, Swinton Grove, Manchester M13 0EU (near back of MRI).

The Group is being run by Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and Age UK Manchester
