Pay Compare launches Ratio Requesters Initiative to boost UK pay ratio reporting

9 Oct 2015 - 11:43 by michelle.foster

Pay Compare, the UK campaign to promote pay ratio reporting by employers, has unveiled its Ratio Requesters initiative provided on its new and enhanced website at: www.paycompare.org.uk.

Any member of the public can now be a Ratio Requester and use Twitter, an online form or a downloadable action pack to ask any employer to publish their pay ratios at the Pay Compare website for everyone to see and compare.

Employers who disclose their pay ratios will automatically earn the Pay Compare Mark which demonstrates to the world their commitment to transparent pay practices.

Pay Compare is also launching three new Twitter-led campaigns to support its new Ratio Requesters initiative:
#FairFTSE which is targeting FTSE 100 listed companies,
#FairFooty which is aimed at UK football clubs, and
#FairCouncil which is focused on the 424 principal local authorities in the UK.

These are all areas of the economy where there is concern around pay disparity and where people want to see greater transparency and fairness.

Stuart Hill, founder and Executive Director of Pay Compare commented:
“Increasing public concern around inequality and vast pay differentials in our economy brought Pay Compare into existence. Pay Compare now seeks to empower the public to demand transparency from employers so we can all see if they pay fair. With the public acting as Ratio Requesters we can grow the clamour for transparent and fair pay practices in the UK which will make a major contribution to a more equitable and better UK, something that over 80%* of the UK public want to see.”
