Proposed Community Focused Sports Hall at Manley Park Community Centre Site

Community on Solid GroundHelp Community on Solid Ground (COSG) by taking a few minutes to fill out their questionnaire so they can work towards getting the Community Sports Hall at Manley Park Community Centre Site to carry on working successfully with the community.

COSG is an active and effective local charity based in Whalley Range, using sports, development, training, youth work and social activities to:

  • Strengthen the community
  • Increase the confidence of young people
  • Improve quality of life

COSG are helping over 400 people every week.

The chief aim is always to support the community to:

  • Improve health and wellbeing
  • Increase integration and build community cohesion
  • Improve social inclusion for all, in all sections of the community
  • Increase knowledge and awareness of crime and anti-social behaviour
  • Sports Development and Physical Fitness

COSG use sports and creative activities to help young people lead full and active lives.

Background information
The current Manley Park Community Centre has been great but is now tired and wearing out. COSG desperately need updated facilities to cater for all of their expanding communities. COSG have spent a lot of time and energy, and spoken to several experts, to agree on the best way forward to improve the health and wellbeing of the community and young people.

The proposal
This proposal is to build a Community Sports Hall, gym and a community room on the present location of the Manley Park Community/Play Centre. This new-build will be dedicated for community use, will be easy to access by all, and will really boost the community projects.
