Roots Programme call for participants – Are you an influential person in a working-class community?

30 Aug 2019 - 10:47 by michelle.foster

Roots ProgrammeLead the way in bringing our society together. The Roots Programme are asking for influential figures in communities around the country to take part in cultural exchanges with national leaders based in London.

What will you do?
You will be matched with an influential figure in a national institution – movers and shakers who have sway, but not necessarily the knowledge needed about how people live far from the corridors and partners.

You’ll go and visit them, seeing their home and neighbourhood and getting to know their life. Your partner will also come and visit your home. The two of you will share meals and talk about your visions for the UK.

After you’re done, you’ll feature at a Vision Day, where The Roots Programme bring together all the exchange participants in the Autumn to talk about how they can make Britain work for everyone.

Why are The Roots Programme doing this?
All of us live in a certain bubble. People in positions of influence on a national scale are a long way removed from people in communities around the country.

With public discourse becoming more toxic and divisive, urgent action is needed to bridge these divides. So many people are talking about bringing our country back together. You can go beyond talk and make it happen.
