Support your community projects with great tasting surplus food

12 Mar 2020 - 16:01 by michelle.foster

Food DropFood Drop, a platform that ensures unsold food from the high street goes to local charities, is coming to Manchester.

Cafes and restaurants are often forced to throw away perfectly edible food at the end of the day. Food Drop makes it easy for this food to be collected by nearby charities, helping reduce food waste and strengthen local communities.

Since launching in London last summer, Food Drop has partnered with Pret A Manger, Caffe Nero and Hummingbird Bakery to help distribute over 20,000 items to more than 50 charities.

The best part – it’s completely free. That means the only thing you will have to worry about is what great tasting sandwiches, salads and sweet treats you want to collect.

Janette Collins, CEO of The Crib, one of Food Drop’s charity partners in Hackney, added: “Using Food Drop helped us to reduce our costs as we are able to provide snacks to the 100 young people we support weekly. The platform makes it easy to share collections between myself and four other support workers!”

Food Drop is launching in Manchester with six Pret A Manger stores. Sign up here before Monday 30 March to be allocated your preferred collection slot.
