Treasurer at Home-Start Manchester

11 May 2018 - 11:30 by michelle.foster

Home-Start Manchester is seeking to appoint a Treasurer to the Board of Trustees. Home-Start is a leading family support charity which recruits, trains and supervises local parent volunteers who provide home visiting support to families with young children. Home-start

The Treasurer will sit on the Board of Trustees (meeting every 6 weeks) and the Finance Sub-Committee as required, providing strategic support and challenge to the Board and CEO. The Board is currently made up of 9 Trustees, each with different areas of expertise pertaining to the voluntary and early years sectors. The Treasurer will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the charity's financial administration, reporting to the Board of Trustees and advising with regard to financial strategy.

You will ideally have a professional finance qualification and experience of budgetary and strategic planning, audit and investment.

Home-Start Manchester’s priorities are to develop stronger partnerships, particularly with fellow Home-Start schemes across Greater Manchester, in order to not only sustain services but to continue to grow to meet an increasing demand. Home-Start Manchester also recognise that they need to diversify their income streams in order to generate more of their own unrestricted income. A key strategic challenge is continuing to secure funding in order to deliver a range of services to vulnerable families at a time of diminishing resources and increasing need.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an organisation with multiple and complex funding streams during a period of change and growth. As Treasurer, you will be fulfilling a vital role for Home-Start Manchester. You will be joining a small but energetic team of trustees who are passionate about bringing their professional expertise to the table to help young families in their local community. The role of Treasurer is crucial in that your experience of managing and reporting on the financial health of the charity will inform the direction and decisions of the Board.
