Young Manchester has released the following update:
‘On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I am pleased to inform you that we have appointed Michelle Farrell-Bell to the position of Chief Executive of Young Manchester. 
With over 30 years’ experience working in children’s charities and local authorities across the North of England, Michelle’s background is rooted in both Youth and Community and Social Work.
Her most recent role was Regional Director for ‘Teens and Toddlers’ (North West) supporting the strategic direction of the charity and creating a sound financial base through direct commissioning and social investment funds.
In addition to demonstrating a commitment to supporting young people and developing teams, Michelle has a strong track record of securing direct funding through partnerships with local business and international companies such as Deloitte and Investec.
Commenting on her appointment, Michelle said:
“I’m excited by the challenge of developing an innovative organisation to support Youth and Play providers in Manchester and passionate about what we can achieve together.”
“I’ll be looking to leverage my expertise, experience and contacts to grow a successful, sustainable and outcome-focussed organisation in my home city.”
“This is an important role requiring a cross-sector collaborative approach to build on the existing work of experienced providers.”
“I am confident that Young Manchester will attract more investment to bring about new opportunities. We need to respond to the ever-changing needs of children and young people in all communities across the city, empowering and equipping them with the skills and emotional resilience required to unlock and fulfil their full potential.”
We hope that Michelle will be in post with Young Manchester on 1 June 2017 and will communicate further news via a press release later this month.
