Lots of people are getting in touch wanting to support others in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Making sure that everyone who can offer support is able to do so and supporting community responses to grow, operate safely and connect with other organisations is our priority.
That's why we've set up the Covid-19 Community Volunteer Programme to help coordinate what we see as the biggest act of organised kindness in our city’s history.
Coid -19 Community Volunteering is a volunteer programme operating across Manchester, to ensure support is in place to care for people and communities during the COVID-19 outbreak. The programme is coordinated by Macc - a registered charity, working all year round to support a thriving voluntary, community and social enterprise sector in Leeds, via the Manchester Volunteer Centre.
A coordinated effort is important to ensure that the most vulnerable people receive help and that all volunteers and recipients of support are safe. If you're healthy and low risk, you can sign-up on the form below to become a Covid-19 ommunity Volunteer and help others in the city.
The programme is designed so that people can opt to volunteer in a range of different roles, depending on availability, skills and preference. We have outlined a few roles that organsiations have anticiapted they will need volunteer support with which you can express a prefernce for but as the situation we all face is changing rapidly we may reach out to volunteers to sign up for opportunites that weren't initally on the form.
Volunteers can opt-in to offer practical support for vulnerable people (such as shopping deliveries, preparing meals, making check-in phone calls), hear more about informal volunteering to helping within their own neighbourhood or offer to share specific professional skills with voluntrary organsiations looking for specific support.
Once the form below has been completed, our team will be in touch to discuss your role and match you with opportunities to help. Virtual training and guidance will be provided for relevant roles.
Thank you for your support.
