Healthy Ageing - The Greater Manchester Older People's Network event

The next GM Older People’s Network Event is focused on Healthy Ageing in Greater Manchester. It will be held on Thursday 24 May 10.30am - 4pm at Friends Meeting House

This event will be an opportunity to share your ideas about Healthy Ageing and to ensure that older people’s views are heard by those that are responsible for policy and strategy in this area.

At the event we will hear from experts and those leading work across GM to better understand the challenges for our City Region and the ways in which we are working to meet these challenges. We will also hear from older people as experts by experience to identify their priorities and challenges in relation to health and wellbeing.

The event is open to all organisational and individual members of the Greater Manchester Older People’s Network, as well as all older people living in Greater Manchester. Places are limited and we will be aiming to get the best possible representation across GM, ensuring that we prioritise places for Older People themselves.

The event is free and lunch will be provided.

If you would like to attend the event, please register your interest by clicking here

Places will not be confirmed at this stage in order to ensure full representation across Greater Manchester.

We would like to hear from you if you have any thoughts or ideas about this area in relation to older people. In our Action Group we have talked about the impact of becoming a carer, receiving a diagnosis of Dementia or other diagnoses, or developing mobility issues. We have also considered the importance of social connections as way of maintaining health and wellbeing. We have also been considering the little things that make a difference when in hospital or receipt of care services. We are also considering how language can impact on people’s experience of services. There are so many other issues that are equally important. Whatever your priorities, concerns or thoughts, we want to hear from you. We want to hear where things are going wrong, as well as positive experiences. You may wish to relate personal experiences or issues that are occurring on a neighbourhood level, or you may have thoughts and comments that you wish to share on more general concerns.

In the run up to the event we will be developing a focus group to discuss relevant issues and plan the themes and agenda for the event. Meetings will take place in Central Manchester. If you would like to be involved in the focus group or would like to offer your ideas or thoughts please contact Liz Jones: liz@macc.org.uk, or telephone 0161 834 9823.
