Refugee Action is pleased to announce the launch of its new Frontline Immigration Advice Project. This project aims to support organisations providing frontline services to migrants to cope with a beneficiary demand for immigration advice where legal aid is not available or accessible.
Any young person aged between 11 and 19, living within the City of Manchester area can now get free online emotional and mental health support using a website called Kooth.com. They can sign up, choose an avatar (an online character) to represent them anonymously and have an online chat with a counsellor or use the many other features on the site such as
message forums and blogs.
Living Our Lives are workshops and information sharing events for disabled people of all ages living in Manchester. They are an opportunity to find out more about different issues important to disabled people.
Living Our Lives workshops will be spread out through 2016 and early 2017, so let Greater Manchester Coalition of Disabled People (GMCDP) know what you want to find out about these can schedule it in later this year.
Ride 220 miles with Rapha through the heart of England in one of the most demanding and rewarding events of the year, raising money for Ambitious About Autism along the way. Now in its third year, the Manchester to London challenge will be taking place on Sunday 4 September.
Riders will set off from the Manchester Velodrome at dawn, riding down the spine of the country through the Peak District, Midlands and the Chilterns before finishing at London’s Olympic Velodrome.
Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.
This assembly gave an opportunity for participants to share, learn and discuss some of the key issues affecting the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector in Manchester and to be part of The Way Forward, a set of proposals to maintain and increase the impact of the VCSE sector in Manchester. The two main topics were Our Manchester – An Asset-Based Approach and Manchester’s Primary Care Led Prevention Programme – A Radical Upgrade.
Young Manchester is an independent, city wide Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) set up to develop a new way of working to support Youth and Play services for children and young people across Manchester, by working with partner agencies to commission work at a local level.
The mosque in Cheetham Hill North Manchester is inviting people to visit to the mosque during the month of Ramadan. Ramadan is a fast during daylight hours. It is something they do every year. The visit comprises a tour, short presentation, Q&A as well as a dinner. There is no cost to those that attend and everyone is welcome.
A group of volunteers from the Pankhurst Trust, Independent Choices Greater Manchester Helpline and Manchester Rape Crisis are representing their organisations on the North West Convoy to Calais on the 18 June. Unison are covering the core costs of the trip.
