It is particularly keen to fund projects that create vibrant and diverse communities by encouraging community cohesion and meeting local social need. 
Do you have a local community asset but don’t know what it could be turned into? Or a community business idea that you don’t know how to get off the ground? If you are a community group or organisation who would like to set up a community business but need a bit of support, then this fund is for you. 
Since 1999, over £600,000 has been collected in the fountains across intu Trafford Centre. Every single coin is cleaned, counted and donated to local charities – the centre chooses three worthy causes every two years.

Groups are being invited to apply for funding to put on an event, or extend a current meeting/event, that recruits new Greater Manchester Cancer Champions. This can be aimed at your business, team or network - as long as individuals are residents of or workers in Greater Manchester.

Hate crime has no place in Manchester. Everyone has the right to feel safe and we all have a responsibility to stand against hatred and discrimination. This has always been important and even more so following the attack on the MEN Arena.
Apply by 31 October 2017 for funding to stop knife crime in your community. The fund has been set up to support community projects which reduce knife crime and have a positive impact on young people at risk of carrying a knife and committing crime. The fund is open to voluntary and community sector groups and the Home Office has made £500,000 available in 2017 to 2018. 
The Big Lottery Fund has recently changed the application process to the People and Places Programme by introducing an initial conversation, either by email or by phone, to discuss the project idea. If the project is a good match for the programme, an application pack will be sent to the group. If the project is not eligible or not a good fit, the Big Lottery Fund’s Advice Team will provide feedback. The old application form will be accepted until 31 October 2017.
The new Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) Culture and Social Impact Fund will provide funding to properly constituted, not for profit, voluntary organisations, who are committed to providing excellent cultural experiences or work that has significant social impact across the ten boroughs in Greater Manchester. 
The Community Radio Fund, managed by Ofcom with funding from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, offers two funding rounds each year. The second round for 2017 has now opened to radio stations that are not-for-profit, run by local people for local people about local issues.
