Skills exchange - share your views for a chance to win a £2500 grant

NCVO is involved in the Skills exchange project which is being led by the government’s Office for Civil Society. The project aims to connect charities and business and raise the awareness of the benefits of skills-based volunteering for both the charity and business sectors. NCVO hope to maximise cross sector skills-based volunteering, whilst preparing the groundwork for future legislation.

Greater Manchester Transport Strategy 2040: consultation launch

In July 2015, Greater Manchester consulted on its ‘2040 Vision’ for transport in the city region, which set out their long-term transport ambitions for a world-class, integrated transport system. Using feedback received during the consultation process, they have now drafted a ‘Greater Manchester Transport Strategy 2040’ and supporting ‘2040 Delivery Plan for 2016/17-2021/22’ on behalf of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and Greater Manchester Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP). Together, once finalised, this suite of documents will form a new Local Transport Plan.

Welfare Sanctions Research Findings

A 5 year research programme to investigate the effectiveness of benefit sanctions and work support in helping people to change people's behaviour, has published its initial findings. Among their key findings was that "The impacts of benefit sanctions are universally reported by welfare service users as profoundly negative. Routinely, sanctions had severely detrimental financial, material, emotional and health impacts on those subject to them.
