Description of opportunity:

 

The role will include providing information, advice, guidance and support, both on an individual and group basis, to aid our service user’s recovery process.

We understand the value of volunteering and encourage volunteer involvement. We see the important role this work plays not just in enhancing our services and the experience of service users and their families and carers, but also in empowering and enhancing the life of the volunteer.
Therefore we will provide an induction to our Services and regular support/supervision. We will also encourage and support further training and all volunteers can access courses held at the Recover Academy for free. Hours are negotiable depending upon personal circumstances and service requirements. Travel expenses will be provided.

ROLE PURPOSE:

You will engage with and support service users experiencing mental health issues; developing service users understanding of recovery and using your own experience and insight into recovery of mental health to motivate them.

KEY TASKS:

  • Encourage and motivate recovery to Service Users.
  • Work as part of a team to aid service user’s recovery process.
  • Guide, advice and support service users using your own personal experience
  • To help service users overcome any barriers, offering support and appropriate advice
  • Support staff to run therapeutic and recreational groups
Skills / Qualifications:

Personal experience of being in Low Secure Services
Personal experience mental health
Willingness to take required training and further develop self for the role

Motivated to work towards creating a safe, open & trusting environment
