Description of opportunity:

Youth offender panels give the community a way of helping young people who have offended to repair the damage they've done. The panels work with first-time offenders - a tailor-made contract is created that sets out how the young person will put things right, such as by completing community work or sending an apology letter. It will also include activities to prevent further reoffending ie. getting the young person to commit to going back into education or work. Volunteer referral order panel members will attend panel meetings along with the young person, staff from the youth justice service and sometimes the young person's parent or guardian.

We need people who can commit to at least 3 hours per month.
