Volunteers are strongly discouraged from bringing personal property into venues and should restrict any valuables brought with them to items that can be carried in their pockets.
It is essential that all actions of all volunteers and staff stand up to public scrutiny and that the behaviour of volunteers and staff can be seen to be ethical and in accordance with best practice.
The welfare of children and young people must be paramount. All steps to reduce the likelihood of abuse of children and young people for whom Volunteer Centre Manchester/ host organisation has a duty of care must be taken.
Grievance procedures may sound rather formal but they are intended to solve problems and promote fairness in relation to the treatment of volunteers and staff and ensure that as far as possible volunteers have the same rights as paid staff.
It may be necessary during the event for managers to deal with matters of discipline involving volunteers. Issues may arise which vary from minor disciplinary issues to incidents of serious misconduct.
Volunteers must not, either during or after their involvement with Volunteer Centre Manchester or a host organisation, divulge confidential information to anyone, other than a person authorised to receive the information, without the written authority from Volunteer Centre Manchester or the host organisation.
