Manchester City Council draft budget details and savings options published

Manchester City Council has published details of options to make £13.8m of savings in its budget for 2016/17.

The Council’s financial position, and approach to addressing it, is set out in a series of reports which will be considered at scrutiny meetings this month and a special Executive meeting on 17 February before a final budget is set in March.

Lloyds Bank Foundation Round 2 grants open

The Lloyds Bank Foundation funding programmes offer short and long term grants. Support is adapted to the needs of small and medium sized charities that are committed to delivering work which breaks or prevents cycles of disadvantage.

Lloyds Bank Foundation grants are open to charities whose income in the last set of published accounts greater than £25,000 and less than £1million and who meet their eligibility criteria.

Sport Relief Community Cash

Sport Relief Community Cash is a grant scheme running across Greater Manchester of £100,000 with grants ranging from £500 to £1,000 available to small organisations that are undertaking work that helps people of all ages feel more included in their community, builds their skills and increases their sense of achievement.

The grants are available to constituted community organisations, registered charities, social enterprises, co-operatives and community interest companies. Groups which have been established for less than 12 months are eligible to apply.

Market position statement update – give your feedback

In the coming weeks Manchester City Council plan to refresh their Market Position Statement (MPS), which is intended to help identify what the future demand for care and support in Manchester might look like, to outline their commissioning intentions, and to help improve the experience of working with Manchester City Council.

Big Potential funding to help attract social investment

Big Potential, a BIG Lottery Fund grant fund, will deliver approximately £20m of grant funding over 3 years to eligible VCSE organisations with the aim of improving the sustainability, capacity and scale of VCSE organisations in order that they may deliver greater social impact.

The programme aims to raise awareness of the social investment market and support VCSEs who want to prepare themselves for social investment or winning contracts.

Big Potential has two possible application routes - Breakthrough and Advanced.
