Invitation to tender for a time-limited evaluation of the Manchester Volunteer Advice Partnership

Manchester Mind is the lead partner in this strong partnership project and is working with 4 other Manchester-based partners (Cheetham Hill Advice Centre, Manchester Refugee Support Network, Greater Manchester Immigration Aid Unit and Young Peoples Support Foundation) to deliver an exciting, two-year project providing excellent-quality volunteering opportunities in advice activities across all the organisations.

Youth on Solid Ground (YSG) Press Club creative writing sessions

Youth on Solid Ground (YSG) Press Club creative writing sessions are being run in partnership with Invisible Inc every Saturday 2:30am-4:30pm at Manley Park Centre, York Avenue, Whalley Range, M16 0AS.

Activities Include: creative writing, group work, discussions, problem solving activities and having fun.

The sessions are free and are for all young girls (ages 11-19).

The sessions are delivered by Qualified Youth Workers, Mentors and Artists.

You can simply turn up, register on the day.

Love our Bike survey - Cycling on the wrong side of the tracks?

Love Your Bike, the cycling advocacy campaign co-ordinated by Manchester Friends of the Earth, has launched a survey to gather the experiences of people who have cycled alongside, close to or across Metrolink tram tracks.

In December 2014, Love Your Bike again raised concerns regarding the designs of Metrolink tram routes at road junctions such as Southmoor Road in Wythenshawe.

In 2012, Sean Sutton (the British Cycling Head Coach at the time) described the new tram lines near to the Velodrome as ‘death traps’.

It Could Be You

“It Could Be You”, is a campaign that aims to tackle attempts by politicians and many in the media to create division between so called “strivers and scroungers”. Their aim is to demonise people who are receiving sickness benefits, in order to justify the unfair and inhuman treatment of disabled people, through the use of a deeply flawed assessment process known as the “Work Capability Assessment” (WCA).

Grants for voluntary and community groups to help domestic abuse survivors/victims

If you're a voluntary or community group, you can apply for a grant of £50,000 to provide a recovery programme for survivors/victims of domestic violence and abuse.

The full £50,000 will be awarded to one successful applicant. Half will be paid as soon as possible, and the other half in November 2015, after a review of what you've done.

You can apply on behalf of your organisation or, if you're working with another organisation, you can apply together.

Community Buildings and Housing - Grants and Support

There are two types of grants available for Community Buildings and Housing:
• Community Buildings Pre-Feasibility Grant
• Community Buildings Project Grant

Community Buildings Pre-Feasibility Grant
Amount of grant available: Between £1,000 and £10,000

This grant will help you assess the feasibility of a community buildings project prior to submitting a Community Right to Build Order or (in the case of community-led housing projects only), a traditional planning application.
