Conducting Asset-Based Conversations is a two day workshop that enables people to understand how to integrate an asset based approach in 1:1 conversations. The workshop is designed around the end goal of supporting practitioners to use a range of approaches, techniques and practical skills in person centred coaching, motivational interviewing and care and support planning.

Who is it for?
Conducting Asset-Based Conversations is aimed at clinical and non-clinical staff who have a 1:1 consulting, advising or supporting role (e.g. GPs, Nurses, Practitioners, Social Workers, allied health professionals) and are working in Manchester.

What will the course cover?
The programme will cover:
• The principles that underpin asset based conversations
• Using person centred coaching to support behaviour change
• Engaging people in goal setting that encourages intrinsic motivation
• Applying a range of directive and non-directive communication approaches
• Using motivational interviewing in asset based conversations
• Using an asset based approach in care and support planning
• Tailoring your approach to the needs of an individual
• Applying behaviour change techniques in a variety of circumstances
• The use of approaches that focus on strengths and positive emotions
• Reflection and planning for the application of learning to practice

This is a fast paced, challenging highly interactive workshop with an emphasis on skill practice and development. There will be many opportunities to build on your current skills, and consider how using asset based approaches can enhance the impact of your 1:1 conversations. Peer challenge and support is promoted along with feedback with the intention of creating a community of practice. The workshop will be co-facilitated by TPC Health (www.tpchealth.com).
