At the Widows Empowerment Trust, we strive to counteract loneliness, social isolation, and loss of confidence in widows and widowers through our work. We promote social inclusion in the lives of anyone that has experienced bereavement. What are we looking for? We need volunteers to join us with our bag packing to support women who have experienced bereavement. This enables us to pay our regular creative workshop facilitator who supports widows with therapeutic sessions in the community, volunteers expenses for our home visit program, take widows out for a meal/day out, pampering sessions (spa), etc. The session will be flexible. We are looking for 18 volunteers to cover this event. It will be great to have help from students studying at university so you can help us raise much-needed funds to support the widows in our communities. What would you be doing as a volunteer? This is a chance for you to chat with customers while gaining skills in customer service and valuable volunteering experience, and the satisfaction of knowing that you are supporting vulnerable people in our community is gratifying and also an excellent experience to put on your CV. |

Giving them their food parcels, making them feel comfortable and providing signposting to further support where appropriate. You will be working directly with clients and help to create a non judgemental and welcoming atmosphere at our food bank. The pieces are then sold through our shops, all the profits support older people in need around Manchester. The project operates from our studio in Didsbury Village. We are looking for keen and creative volunteers who want to help out with upcycling textiles in beautiful clothes, bags etc. Please note that prior experience is prioritised, even if it is just on an amateur/hobby level. You will work with our experience upcyclers to make beautiful things, to cut waste, and to support an independent Manchester charity. We can pay expenses for up to £5 travel and up to £3.50 lunch allowance (for individual volunteer shifts more than 4 hours). |
