Home Community Café are recruiting Trustees

home community cafeHome Community Café is a popular café and community space in the centre of Didsbury, located in the entrance of Emmanuel Church but a distinct registered charity. Home Community Café aims to provide welcome and belonging to all, and to strengthen the community through providing space for diverse activities that benefit individuals and groups. The café is open five days a week and serves delicious home-made food, barista coffee and speciality teas.

Home Community Café also run a wide range of events and activities in our community space (the Living Room) which is provided at no/minimal cost to groups and individuals who want to do something good in the community.  

Other than a small Home staff-team, the café is run by volunteers, which is key to their vision and ethos. Home Community Café currently have around 40 volunteers involved in a variety of ways.

Home Community Café are looking for new Trustees to help provide oversight and direction for Home to secure its continuing long-term success as a sustainable and flourishing charitable organisation. The primary requirement is to share the commitment to Home’s purpose and ethos and a willingness to get stuck in.

Home Community Café are specifically seeking Trustees with experience of one or more of the following:

  • Community networking and funding connections / channels
  • Event management at both the strategic level and an understanding of the practicalities
  • Admin and an organisational ability, with an eye for detail to take on the Secretary role

Additional skills and attributes which are also desirable:

  • Organised and reliable
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • A team player and positive
  • Willingness to get involved

The Trustee Board normally meets bi-monthly, in the evening. There are opportunities, although no expectations, of getting directly involved in the Café or wider community activities and, when available, Trustees typically support wider Home initiatives.
