Local organisation wins Weston Charity Award

Home Start Trafford and Salford was announced as a winner of the Weston Charity Awards at the ceremony on Wednesday 14 June. Along with an unrestricted grant of £6,500, Home Start Trafford and Salford will receive 10-12 months coaching from senior business leaders via national organisation Pilotlight, who have been bringing top business talent together with small charities for over ten years to help charities become bigger, better or more sustainable. Home Start Trafford and Salford, which aims to prevent family crisis and ensure children have the best possible start in life, are one of only 17 winners across the Midlands, North East, North West and Yorkshire this year. The Weston Charity Award is an annual initiative between the Garfield Weston Foundation and Pilotlight which is now in its fourth year, launched to address the challenge of increasing demand and reductions in funding.

Applications for funding from Garfield Weston are open to all organisations in the North West year round, while those wanting to access Pilotlight’s free support are invited to apply between 1 and 31 July at: www.pilotlight.org.uk/charities/how-to-apply.
