Promoting Positive Relationships briefing sessions for Manchester practitioners

12 Jul 2023 - 09:39 by michelle.foster

The Manchester Promoting Positive Relationships approach, sponsored by the Department of Work and Pensions, aims to increase awareness, and provide support and training for practitioners. Attending the briefing sessions for the Our our manchester promoting positive relationships approachManchester Promoting Positive Relationships will give you the toolkit and resources, to share with families and young children to improve relationships.

There is strong evidence that conflict between parents and family members – whether together or separated – can have a significant negative impact on children’s mental health and long-term life chances.

Not all conflict is damaging, but where this is frequent, intense, and poorly resolved, it can harm children’s outcomes.

Addressing relationship conflict and the quality of family relationships is a critical component of improving outcomes for children. Interventions for families without addressing relationship conflicts are unlikely to be effective or improve outcomes for children.

Manchester City Council’s approach to addressing this issue is to continue identifying suitable practitioners from across the sectors to provide them with the training that will support their ability to share their learning in briefing sessions with other practitioners. These sessions will form part of a wider support package that practitioners can share ideas and strategies families can use to promote positive relationships within their family.
