21 Aug 2015 - 10:51 by michelle.foster

The Pankhurst Trust (Incorporating Manchester Women’s Aid) (PTMWA) is a women’s led organisation whose vision is to ensure that people, suffering, or at risk of, domestic abuse receive appropriate support. They deliver services from their base at the Pankhurst Centre, the former home of Emmeline Pankhurst and her daughters and the birthplace of the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) and the Suffragette movement.

About the role
The Trust seeks skilled women to join their talented Board of Trustees to play a key role in the development of this successful charity which is committed to tackling gender inequality and the violence and injustice it fosters.

This is a volunteer opportunity. The Board meets on a monthly basis for evening meetings for two hours at a Central Manchester venue and from time to time ad-hoc sub-groups are convened, which may require involvement of the membership.

About you
The Trust is seeking women with a passion for women’s rights and a drive to work to tackle gender inequality. Their membership has a broad range of skills and experiences and they are particularly interested in hearing from individuals with backgrounds in fundraising, contracting and procurement or construction to help to develop particular projects.

The successful candidates will have the ability to work constructively as a member of a diverse board, valuing diversity across the Pankhurst Trust and externally across the wider community.

The post is open to women only under the Equality Act 2010, schedule 9, part 1

An information evening session for prospective members is being held on 3 September, 5pm-7pm in Central Manchester.
