University of Manchester - Manchester Enterprise Challenge projects

3 Feb 2017 - 10:46 by michelle.foster

Do you have a short-term project that enterprise-minded students could help with? University of Manchester

The University of Manchester are currently sourcing community projects for their Manchester Enterprise Challenge, a programme that combines an academic unit on enterprise with a project working with a locally based not-for-profit organisation or social enterprise.

The Challenge allows students to learn about enterprise whilst putting their skills in consultation and project management to use in a real-world context, specifically with organisations benefitting the local community.

The University of Manchester are looking for community projects where students can help organisations by addressing a specific improvement opportunity. For example this can be in relation to:
• marketing
• financial sustainability
• income generating activity
• or helping with solving a problem where enterprising thinking or skills would help

How it works:
The students will be matched up to projects in small teams, and after an initial meeting with the project sponsor will analyse the issues and work to come up with solutions to address them.

Timescale:
Deadline: Friday 10 February 2017
• Projects can run between late February and Mid May at a timescale that works for your organisation
• The students will spend on average 20 hours each on the projects
• Students will feedback directly to their partner organisation and all sponsors will also be invited to attend a feedback and review event in May

If you have a project you would like to put forward or any or further information or email Emma Richardson from the Volunteering and Community Engagement Team at: [email protected], or contact 0161 275 2851.
