A new Spirit of Manchester Business programme is being pioneered by Macc, Manchesters local voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector support organisation.
A NEW project to unite worker bees across the private and voluntary sector has been launched.
The new Spirit of Manchester Business programme is being pioneered by Macc, Manchester’s local voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector support organisation.
The idea behind its design is to connect the people who make up Manchester – from community groups to big businesses – so they can tackle some of the city’s biggest issues together – from health and wellbeing to education and employment.
Spirit of Manchester Business will match a business with a local cause, based on the skills and knowledge of its team of workers, to a specific need in a voluntary organisation. Together they will create a ‘Spirit Pact’ to have the biggest impact for both organistations.
Chief Executive of Macc, Mike Wild, said: “This new project is all about Manchester. We want businesses and the voluntary sector to work together to make this great city even greater. This is not just about an organisation giving money to a charity – although this is obviously still welcome – it is about forging relationships with one or more of the amazing voluntary and community organisations in the city. We want the talents and skills of people working in the private sector to be utilised in the voluntary sector – for the benefit of the charity but also for the benefit of the business.”

Paul Bond and Richard Ortiz from O2 on Market Street in Manchester are working with Macc to support the Spirit of Manchester work.
Team leader Paul said: “It is really important to us to branch out into the community and not just be about selling technology. It is about how we can make people’s lives better in the community, whether that be by supporting charity and social enterprise events or inviting people to workshops to upskill staff at voluntary organisations.”
