Wayra Fair By Design is a new acceleration programme that will tackle the poverty premium: where people in poverty pay more for many everyday goods and services – such as energy, insurance, borrowing, transport and food – than those who can more easily afford them.

On Wednesday 20 September, 4 Steps moved their desks, laptops and mentors into the training room at Burnage Community Centre for a Learn to Earn event.

Thursday 21 September saw the Whitemoss Club for Young People and ten Co-op volunteers organise a tea party for local people.
The Co-op supplied the food and some raffle prizes, and it gave everyone the chance to come together and make new friends. The term reducing social isolation is often used but the friendships made at the party could have a significant positive effect on this. The Co-op ’s involvement is a great example of how building relationships between the voluntary and private sectors can positively impact a community.
