Carers Online - The Gaddum Centre Story

The Gaddum Centre is busy working with a web developer today, putting the finishing touches to its great new carers’ website. A network of 20 Manchester carer support organisations, with focus groups, has spent six months designing and developing the website. This has been achieved with invaluable involvement from carers looking at the design and how it will work to make sure that it meets the needs of carers across the city.

Sharing life experiences - Wythenshawe Good Neighbours Story

“I know it’s Tuesday because I am going out to lunch and I don’t normally go out”. Every week for the past year, older people in Wythenshawe have had the opportunity to meet up for lunch at the Northenden Social Club. Apart from sharing a meal together, the lunch helps everyone to socialise and meet others in a community space.

Joanne has been with the Gaddum Centre four to five months and is the Team Leader for IAPT counselling. The talking therapy services are based in GP surgeries across Manchester providing 12 weekly 1:1 sessions with clients referred by their GP.

New Work Placements Programme with the Challenge and Department of Education

The Challenge have recently been commissioned by the Department of Education to design and pilot a new model for student work placements, which the government is planning to roll out nationally as a mandatory requirement for all (~250,000) technical education students by 2020, as part of their newly proposed t-levels.

Free chairs

Manchester City Council have some free chairs to give away which are located at Hulme Hall, in the grounds of Claremont Resource Centre, which is at the junction of Jarvis road and Rolls Crescent in Hulme, M15 5FS. The chairs will need to be collected.

The Best Part is the End! - Community Explorers Story

 ‘You can tell it is a Community Explorers meeting by the noise’. Lots of conversations and networking is the one of the main reasons people attend these community health and care meetings. On Tuesday 19 September, there were 18 participants including Jobcentre Plus, Manchester Carers Forum and the North Manchester Black Health Forum.

Manchester BME Network - Free Legal Advice Sessions starting

Disabled Living, one of Manchester’s oldest charities, is calling for people to get in touch who have memories, materials and/or photographs about their links with the charity. Hundreds of thousands of people across the North West have been involved with the organisation in its 120 year history as service users, volunteers, staff and trustees.
