Description of opportunity:

The Role:

Learn how to cook simple and nutritious meals to run your own cookery sessions within the local community

At One Manchester, we want to improve healthy eating in the local community by delivering simple cooking classes, which teach people about how to shop on a budget, to cook simple meals and to improve their confidence and love of good food. We will build awareness around food waste, using surplus food provided by FareShare North West.

We are holding an 8 week cookery training course to teach volunteers how to develop their skills and confidence in the kitchen. They will then be required to go out to deliver the same 8 week cookery course to the local community.

This is a great way to build your cooking confidence, meet new people and enjoy delicious food cooked by you!

Come along to the East Hub on the 2nd March to find out more information and to get signed up!

The initial taster course will run for 8 weeks, where you will receive full support and training on how to cook and how to teach others the same skills in an efficient and safe way.

After this time you will then be required to commit to volunteering each week, alongside other volunteers, to run the same 8 week cookery course within the local community.

Course programme:

Week 1: Introduction to find out about the course and to sign up

Weeks 2 – 7: Cooking lessons and some simple theory exercises
