Kusuma Trust UK Launches Small Grants Programme for England

The Kusuma Trust UK, an independent grantmaking organisation, aims to facilitate and increase access to education and other life opportunities for children and young people, with a focus on the most disadvantaged. The Trust enables children and young people to realise their potential and break the inter-generational cycle of poverty. The Trust has developed a strategy which includes working in England to improve education outcomes for young people.

Registered charities in England can apply for grants of up to £10,000.

Rosa Launches Voices from the Frontline Grants Scheme

Rosa, the UK Fund for Women and Girls has launched a new grants programme called Voices from the Frontline which is an innovative new programme aimed at shining a light on women at the front of the fight for gender equality. Supporting charitable advocacy work, Voices from the Frontline will increase the skills, capacity and credibility of women who wish to challenge gender inequality and promote awareness and change, moving us closer to social justice and equality for women in the UK.

Community Christmas Dinner

Natalie Lek, a full time student at Salford University studying law, is organising two sit down meals in the community for the elderly and vulnerable one is in Cheadle Hulme for 20 people on the 14 December at 5.30pm and the other meal is at the Alliance Inn in Harpurhey at 12.30pm, both meals are completely free and transport can be provided if required.

Youth HELP Training

The Youth Health, Empowerment and Leadership Programme (HELP), provided free by Multicultural Arts and Media Centre (MAMC), will be delivered through a choice of the following 5 modules:
1. Getting to know each other, knowledge of the NHS, what is mental health and mental illness
2. Empowering young people through arts, effective communication and presentation skills
3. Learning through participation (visits to local health and public services)
4. Feedback, evaluation and lessons learnt

MMHSCT Mental Health Services consultation – Our Plans to Stop some of our Services

This consultation is being led by Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust (MMHSCT) and is supported by the North, Central and South Clinical Commissioning Groups.

Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust (the Trust) provides specialist, community mental health, prison and public health wellbeing services as well as support services for people living within the City of Manchester. The Trust receives most of its money (about 67% of its total income) to provide these services from the North, Central and South Manchester Clinical Commissioning Groups (Manchester CCGs).

Mental Health Cuts in Manchester Briefing (26/11/2015)

The following is Macc’s understanding and observations on the current position. It is important to note that this is changing all the time.

Level of Cuts
The Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust is being forced to make cuts of £6.9m in 2015/16. This figure represents 7% of the Trust’s total £103m income. The figure is especially high due to £2m of the 2014/15 round of cuts not being achieved and therefore carried forward into this round.

Social investors and commissioners are interested in the social impact ventures achieve, but demonstrating this impact can be difficult. Many social ventures struggle to quantify their achievements without the right systems and expertise.

This fund offers grants and support to social ventures to understand and improve their social impact and demonstrate improvements to investors and commissioners.
