What is a Gardener?

A "Gardener"volunteer helps the garden team manage the daily maintenance and conservation of the 17 acres of stunning gardens, using recognised best practice 365 days a year. We will teach you all you need to know and support your development and skill base through training and mentoring.

What’s in it for you?

  • Enjoy being outside and being part of a great group of over 100 like minded volunteers.
  • Learn and develop your gardening skills to which ever level suits you.
  • Get involved in any number of ways from daily maintenance to helping to manage your own area of the garden.
  • We have very flexible working hours/days to fit in with your lifestyle.
  • Feel a great sense of involvement and pride as you help us to conserve and develop our garden for all to enjoy.

What’s involved?

  • All aspects of garden maintenance and conservation; hoeing , edging , weeding, machine use, planting of Spring and Summer bedding, watering, propagation, spraying, clearance, maintaining flower beds.
  • We have major bedding displays, an Orangery, Rose garden, mixed borders, herbaceous borders, several lawns, hedges, shrub borders, a stream garden, paths and a Nursery/greenhouse area.
  • Work is done both individually and in groups depending on the task.
  • Great Communication with our visitors whilst working within the Trusts own Values and Behaviours and Service promise.
  • Careful management of the Trusts equipment.
  • Working within its Health and Safety policy at all times.

This role will suit you if you…
