Description of opportunity:

 

Gorton is full of hidden gems with many places of historical, environmental or social interest. With the involvement of One Manchester, Gorton Way has morphed into a much more embrasive project, where the Gorton Way can become a digital platform for the hosting of Gorton's complete cultural/social life, past and present. In digital terms, there will be three strands to the Way: historical, natural, social and cultural. We are seeking enthusiastic local people who have an interest in the Gorton Way and knowledge of the local history.

The Role
As a volunteer bid writer, you will be responsible for writing funding bids to enable The Gorton Way to raise money and support to establish new services and projects. This is a great opportunity to support the organisation to grow and achieve new targets.

Getting involved in this project is great if your interests are:

  • To gain experience in finance and grants applications
  • Speaking to lots of different people – either face to face or by telephone
  • Administration and finance
  • Supporting the local community
  • Local heritage and history

You will receive full training for this role.

Bid writing experience is desirable but not essential and we welcome applicants without direct experience in this area. We do require applicants to have strong written and oral English skills, with an ability to write clearly and persuasively.
