Description of opportunity:

Description of the role
The Homework Club is a valuable service for children in the area aged 8-16 as it gives them a safe and supportive place to complete homework and learn new skills. NCA are looking for volunteers who can deliver creative arts and crafts sessions to the group.
Volunteers must be over 18 years of age and will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
Volunteers are required to have a full induction and will be paid out-of-pocket expenses such as bus fare.

Main Tasks

  • To support Children and Young People with Arts & Crafts activities
  • To work with children and young to develop ideas for arts and crafts activities
  • To work with children and young people to develop cereative ideas around themes; International Women’s Day, father’s day, Multiculturalism, bullying, friendship etc.
  • To source activities using the internet, books
  • To develop creative skills
  • To help children & young people research creative ideas, skills & activities using computers, books etc.
  • To support with producing projects, displays, window displays and material for newsletters, etc.

Skills / Qualifications:

- A polite nature
- Good knowledge of Literacy (Minimum ESOL Entry Level 3)
- Good Knowledge of Numeracy Skills (Minimum GCSE)
- Good communication skills with children
- The ability to volunteer as part of a team of people from different backgrounds
- A commitment to equal opportunities, treating all individuals with respect
- An understanding of, and commitment to, confidentiality
- Reliability
