Description of opportunity:

In 2017 the Tennis Foundation will again be running a series of Regional tournaments for athletes with a learning disability. There will be seven tournaments across Great Britain culminating in a National Finals Event in November. Round 5 of the series will be taking place at Manchester Tennis Centre on July 29th and 30th 2017 and we need volunteers to help on both the Saturday and Sunday of the event. Each regional tournament will be held over a weekend at an indoor venue. There will be LTA Licensed Officials working on all the matches but we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers aged 14 or over with an interest in tennis, to help players on court.

We are looking for volunteers to help out over the weekend and no experience is necessary and the role will involve the following;

  • Escort players on to the correct court from the court holding area
  • Assist players to be ready to serve or receive
  • Ensure that the court is clear of any tennis balls prior to the start of each point
  • Ensure players take a break at the change of ends and take on fluids when needed
  • Change the scoreboard at the change of ends
  • Escort players from the court back to the court holding area when match is complete
  • Volunteers will be required on the days of the tournament from 8.30am to 6pm. Each volunteer will receive a free t-shirt and lunch and drinks each day.

What’s in it for me?
Lunch and refreshments will be provided for all volunteers
