We're looking for new volunteers to join our team here at Jump Space! Are you someone who enjoys making a positive impact in the local community?

Why not join us at Jump Space?

We are a trampolining, rebound therapy and play centre for people with disabilities. We offer daytime group sessions for schools, colleges and residential homes! In the evenings and on Saturdays we have classes catering for a range of age groups.

What do you get as a volunteer? We offer a range of perks for our volunteers, such as a reward system, qualifications and on site training. We offer support in a range of volunteer pathways: Weekly volunteering for your CV, Duke of Edinburgh Award, school work experience and university placements

At present we are looking for volunteers Monday-Saturday, mornings, afternoons and evenings. You can volunteer for one hour or choose to do more.

ABOUT JUMP SPACE

Based in Stockport, Jump Space is a specialist recreation centre providing Trampolining, Rebound Therapy and Active/Sensory play to disabled and non-disabled people of all ages. Our fully accessible HQ caters for groups and individuals with a wide range of impairments. We cater for individuals, families, groups, schools, colleges, residential homes and referral units.

Jump Space’s specially adapted centre has four trampolines, an accessible play area and large sensory room. It provides a safe, fun, understanding and non-judgemental environment to play for disabled people and creates a supportive social space for everyone who comes in. Our unique provision means that siblings can enjoy trampolining sessions alongside their brothers and sisters while parents and carers can chat and network. The centre has onsite parking with further parking on the street which is free. There is an accessible toilet with changing bed and track hoist. Inside the centre there is a track hoist in our sensory room, and a mobile hoist in the gym.

In a session, participants work with coaches on the trampolines and are progressively taught a wide range of skills using a range of communication methods. When not on the trampolines, they are able to choose between activities: the slide, the swing, soft play and the sensory room. Our aims and objectives state that we want to provide opportunities to people with disabilities “allowing them to enjoy physical recreation in a safe, accessible and understanding environment” through offering “facilities for sport and recreation for groups or individuals who, for reasons of disability, impairment or social isolation, may have been otherwise excluded or deterred from accessing other clubs and activities.”

What is Rebound Therapy?

Rebound Therapy is an intensive 1:1 technique that comprises the therapeutic use of trampolines to provide opportunities for movement, exercise and recreation for people with additional needs.

Physically, it helps to increase strength, stamina, balance and co-ordination. It can also aid confidence-building, communication and social skills. What are the benefits of trampolining and Rebound Therapy? Some of the benefits are:

•Improved muscle tone (increase or decrease)

•Improved balance and proprioceptive awareness

•Improved posture

•Improved mobility

•Improved cardiovascular fitness

•Improved bowel function

•Improved sensory integration

•Improved communication

•Improved confidence

•Improved independence
