Trusthouse Charitable Foundation launches new funding criteria

Trusthouse Charitable Foundation, founded in 1997, is a medium sized grantmaker distributing around £2.2 million a year to projects around the UK.

The grants target small, local projects working to address community issues in areas of extreme Urban Deprivation or remote, socio-economically deprived Rural Areas. Organisations need to have a demonstrable track record of success.

The past several years have been ones of financial upheaval, encompassing both the global financial crisis in 2007 and 2008 and cuts to public service spending under the Coalition government from 2010. Ongoing reductions in public spending have affected the voluntary sector as a whole; the most recent UK Civil Society Almanac showed that it lost £1.9bn from government between 2009/10 and 2012/13.

Research Project looking at wasted resources in the city – we need your views

We are currently working with a group of students from University of Manchester to look at wasted resources in the city. Could you help by completing our questionnaire?

We are looking to set up a way businesses can register their 'waste' unused assets, which will then be donated to a deserving community member or group.

The questionnaire won't take long to complete and all informationgiven will be treated as confidential and no individual responses (from named individuals or organisations) will be disclosed without permission.

Consultation on the B&B/hotel Code of Conduct

Manchester City Council, along with its partners in AGMA have been working to improve the standards of B&Bs and hotels within the region, which are used by Homeless services.

In order to facilitate the improvement a code of conduct has been produced, which should improve quality of service, value for money and foster better partnership working between LA's, agencies and providers.

The code will be owned and operated by all partners and will be a dynamic document which can be improved upon in the spirit of partnership working.

Join the Somme 100 Pals – call for volunteers

400 volunteers are needed to take part in a unique performance to commemorate the lives of those who served in or were affected by the Battle of the Somme 100 years ago. Are you enthusiastic aged 18 or over, male or female, who’ll relish the opportunity to become involved in a truly oneof-a-kind, historic event? Volunteers will be part of a short movement-based dance piece – though no previous experience is required.

St Ann's Hospice launches Forget-Me-Not Appeal

Hundreds of people from across Greater Manchester will be remembering their loved ones as part of a very special appeal this Spring, in support of local charity St Ann’s Hospice.

The Forget-Me-Not appeal gives people the chance to receive a special wooden keepsake and, if they wish, to attend a service to remember friends or family members they can no longer be with, whilst making a donation to St Ann’s.
