Race equality and migrant rights organisations call for independent review into institutional racism in the Home Office

RunnymedeFollowing the publication of the Windrush Lessons Learned Review, 15 race equality and migrant rights organisations (full list below) have today called for an independent review into the extent of institutional racism in the Home Office and whether its immigration policies are in accordance with equality law around racial discrimination.

ACORN's petition to protect renters

ACORN is currently pushing for the government to protect renters against the economic impact that the outbreak may have on them. The petition calls on the Government to enact temporary rent freezes for renters suffering with the virus or self isolating for the period of their self isolation and recovery. The measures brought in on 18 March banning any applications for new evictions in the next 3 months still compel renters to repay any rent payments they can't afford at this time through a future payment plan.

Consultation on The Local Plan

Manchester City CouncilManchester City Council is beginning a review of the Core Strategy, its Local Plan and the saved policies from the Unitary Development Plan. The first stage is to consider the issues the plan should cover and the Council is asking for your views. Consultation on the Local Plan Issues document will run until Friday 3 April 2020. A series of drop-in events will be held across the city.
