Tampon Tax Fund - apply by 28 Jan 2018

Women’s charities can now bid for the latest £15 million round of the Tampon Tax Fund, Minister for Sport and Civil Society Tracey Crouch has announced. The Tampon Tax Fund allocates funds generated from the VAT on sanitary products to projects that improve the lives of disadvantaged women and girls. Gov.uk

The fund is open to charitable, benevolent and philanthropic organisations from across the United Kingdom.

Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester is currently developing a new police and crime plan which will set the strategic direction for the police and other organisations with responsibilities for keeping communities safe. The name of the draft plan is ‘Standing Together: A Plan for police, community safety, criminal justice services and citizens in Greater Manchester’ which reflects the range of people and organisations working together to keep us safe.

The Executive Board at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) wants to know how as a Trust, they engage with partners in the VCSE Sector and what, if any, working relationships they have with them. With the changes to health and social care provision across Greater Manchester, more and more emphasis is being placed on joint working and co-production of services. This survey will allow the Board to see what is currently happening across MFT, but also where the gaps are, and to identify how and where they can start to work in co-operation with their community partners.

A local keen allotment grower shares her thoughts on donating excess fresh produce to charities that help the homeless and those in food poverty. GMPA introduce a new charity called Sponsorstars and provide details about Wood Street Missions Christmas appeal for children’s presents.

The Department of Health have launched a consultation about organ and tissue donation. This is because the government intends to change the organ donation system to an 'opt-out' system. Manchester City Council - update about homelessness in Manchester

Plans for a Council-run homelessness prevention centre – designed to provide temporary accommodation and support for people who have just lost their homes while they get back on their feet – have been approved. Manchester City Council

Manchester City Council will open the 38-bed Longford Centre in January, once the building – a former residential care home – has been refitted.

To many people, being able to express yourself artistically is an important part of health and wellbeing. Now one Manchester project has received funding to provide accredited arts and crafts courses for people with long-term mental health issues.
