Most people want to age well at home, remaining part of their community, connected with family and friends. We believe that decision makers in Greater Manchester across planning, housing, health and care need to reflect this aspiration and set it as an underlying objective, for all their policies, and then work together to ensure that all older people have access to a decent home in later life.
The Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership (GMHSCP) is seeking a passionate and driven individual to act as an Independent Chair/Carers Champion to support the Carers Strategy Group and the implementation of its delivery programme to enhance support and opportunities for carers. 
Three events are to be held in Living Wage Week this year. These events will support the GM Combined Authority led public engagement process for the proposed GM Good Employment Charter.

A Day In The Life is a work-shadowing initiative that provides a unique opportunity for staff from government and voluntary sector organisations to step into each other's shoes for a day, and learn about how the other sector operates. 
Since March, the Age-Friendly Manchester team has been reviewing and refreshing Manchester's Ageing Strategy. Manchester: A Great Place to Grow Older 2017-2021 is the result of an extensive period of consultation with services, colleagues, partners and older people themselves. 
As in previous years, the need to find families for some of our most vulnerable children remains at the heart of this year’s National Adoption Week. This year focuses on the need to find the right adopters for sibling groups. 
Nationally 61% of children waiting for Adoption are in sibling groups and right here in the Northwest it’s higher still at 64%.
In the latest Greater Manchester Poverty Action (GMPA) newsletter they comment on our economy and ask if Greater Manchester could take the lead in a more human-centred economy; GMPA look at loneliness among disabled people and share information about Breakthrough’s ‘Let’s have a good week’ project; GMPA feature the story and the thoughts of one of the Salford Poverty Truth Commissioners and there is the regular Living Wage column.
