Caritas Salford

As Head of Homelessness at Caritas Salford the "just one thing" that we are focused on in Manchester is tackling homelessness, as part of our wider work to address poverty in our communities.  Our Cornerstone Day Centre in Hulme provides a homeless prevention service for over 150 people a week.  We work in partnership with a range of advice and health services to ensure we provide outcomes-focused, wrap-around support to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.  At our Morning Star project next door, we provide supported accommodation for 20 single homeless men who would otherwis

Mustard Tree - ‘I got much more, they sorted everything out for me"

Bruce was sleeping rough when he visited Mustard Tree in April 2022. After the breakdown of a 27-year relationship, he fell into a depression, which eventually led to him becoming homeless.

Bruce visited the Street Engagement Hub at Mustard Tree and received help to access accommodation. Additionally, Bruce got a hot meal and was given essential items and help by the support team.

Cost of living advice and information for Winter 2023

As we come into colder winter months – it is important that we all do what we can to give our residents the information they need to stay warm and well. This includes messages about how to access cost of living support and find free warm welcome spaces near you.

Noah’s Story 

The Boaz Trust has been supporting people experiencing homelessness after claiming asylum since 2004. They provide stable accommodation and person-centred support to people with refugee status, and people who have been refused asylum. 

Across Ummah CIC bringing hope and light in the community

Across Ummah CIC focus is to mitigate crises, improves mental and general wellness in families. Our counselling, therapeutic sessions and the food hub alleviate the Cost-of-Living crisis across Manchester. Our focus is on supporting vulnerable residents, and disadvantaged individuals. We create holistic pathways to prevent substance bringing hope and viable coping strategy approaches to combat life challenges. Our community outreach, resourceful empowerment sessions, coaching and economic supports through our food hubs, have transformed many lives. 

Street Support Network - Volunteer For Good

Street Support Network is an online hub where you can find national and local support all in one place. A good way to think of it is a ‘one-stop-shop’ for anyone in need. 

Whether you’re experiencing, or at risk of experiencing homelessness, struggling financially, or just looking for somewhere warm to spend time during the day, the support on our site is available to everyone. 

There are three primary reasons you might use our website: 

Saheli ‘ making a big difference, providing safe spaces, culturally sensitive support’

Saheli (meaning friend) is a charity making a big difference, providing safe spaces, culturally sensitive support and refuge from domestic abuse to women from Black, Asian and minority communities and their children.  

Tackling homelessness in Manchester, Saheli have three refuges. These spaces offer safe temporary accommodation for Black, Asian or Minority woman who are fleeing domestic abuse or forced marriages.
