Community Business Fund

Across England community businesses are bringing a new sense of prosperity and pride to local people. Yet many find it a struggle to access the finance they need. Power to Change is committed to addressing this need. Through the fund, Power to Change will award grants between £50,000 – £300,000 to community businesses in England.

Manchester Central Foodbank are recruiting three new trustees

Manchester Central Foodbank was established 3 years ago by the Manchester Universities’ Catholic Chaplaincy and students from the University of Manchester. It is now one of the busiest foodbanks in Manchester serving over 1,700 food parcels each year to local people in crisis.

Making Noise project: children’s voices for positive change after sexual abuse

The International Centre: researching child sexual exploitation, violence and trafficking are looking for children and young people to take part in an online survey about help-seeking and support for children who may be affected by sexual abuse in the family environment. This survey is targeted at young people aged 11 – 18 including those who have who have not necessarily been affected by sexual abuse.

The government has published its plan for dealing with hate crime in England and Wales. This document sets out the government’s plan of actions to deal with hate crime until May 2020. It outlines actions the government will take to:
• prevent and respond to hate crime
• increase reporting of hate crime incidents
• improve support for victims
• build an understanding of hate crime

Manchester Local Pharmaceutical Committee merger news

Manchester Local Pharmaceutical Committee (LPC) have announced that as of the 1 October 2016 they will be merging with LPC’s across Greater Manchester to form one Greater Manchester wide LPC.

This Greater Manchester LPC (name to be agreed) will include the following localities:
• Manchester
• Ashton, Leigh and Wigan
• Tameside, Oldham and Glossop
• Stockport
• Salford and Trafford
• Bury and Rochdale
