Hundreds sleep out for the night in solidarity with Manchester’s homeless

On Friday 6 November hundreds of people will join The Manchester Sleepout to highlight some of the hardships that homeless people face every single night. Brave participants have accepted the challenge to sleep outside Manchester Cathedral to help raise awareness and funds for the work of the Booth Centre, a homeless day centre in the city.

Autistic Society Greater Manchester Area are looking for new members to join their Trustee Board.

This is an opportunity to contribute to the direction and strategic development of a local charity, supporting people with autism.

Enthusiasm and commitment are crucial, a knowledge of autism is less important than being a team player and playing an active role while in post.

This is an voluntary position, but expenses are reimbursable. The minimum time commitment is four Board meetings a year at the centre in Stretford.

Register your interest for forthcoming ESIF calls

Organisations that have expressed or would like to express an interest to GM Futures in delivering sub-contracts under Greater Manchester’s 2014-2020 ESIF round are required to re-register through a new electronic tendering system.

As lead applicant for several ESF lots, the Manchester Growth Company, on behalf of GM Futures, has introduced a new electronic tendering system, Intend, to enable GM Futures to operate a more efficient and effective sub-contracting process and support improved communication to and from providers.

International Older People's day was on 1 October. To mark this day, Age-Friendly Manchester have launched an Age-Friendly Manchester Older People’s Charter.

Age-Friendly Manchester want to make Manchester a better place to grow older and in turn improve the lives of older people. The Charter reinforces the principles required to make this happen.

This aim can only be fulfilled if the people, groups and organisations in the city give their support and pledge to do things, big or small, that make Manchester more age-friendly and better for older people.

Pay Compare launches Ratio Requesters Initiative to boost UK pay ratio reporting

Pay Compare, the UK campaign to promote pay ratio reporting by employers, has unveiled its Ratio Requesters initiative provided on its new and enhanced website at: www.paycompare.org.uk.

Any member of the public can now be a Ratio Requester and use Twitter, an online form or a downloadable action pack to ask any employer to publish their pay ratios at the Pay Compare website for everyone to see and compare.

Free desks available for local groups

Stoodley Vehicle Auctions have a large number of very good quality modern office desks that they would like to donate free of charge to local community groups.

There are curved desks as well as other designs, all complete with cut out for computer cables etc.

All desks will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

International Women's Day 2016 Grants

Grant applications for International Women’s Day (IWD) 2016 are now open and available to all voluntary and community groups that want to organise events and activities to mark and celebrate International Women’s Day.

The theme for 2016 is ‘Women’s Voices – Changing Manchester’. Groups are being urged to apply for grants of up to £1,000 to put on events that relate to the theme of giving women a voice, particularly women who are under represented in society and events which have a lasting impact on women in their communities.

Power to Change Grants – apply by 22 Oct

The Power to Change Initial Grants Programme (IGP) is designed to help existing community businesses that are in a position to significantly improve their long-term sustainability within six months of receiving a grant. This means that the Fund is looking for applications from existing organisations, which already have business plans in place and are ready to start work quickly on their proposals. The longer term funds, which will launch in early 2016, will include opportunities for new and early stage organisations to apply for funding.
