The Manchester Work and Skills Board have developed a strategy on how they should develop the skills, jobs, training and qualifications that Manchester’s businesses and residents need to succeed and prosper in the years up to 2020.

The Board have worked together with employers, businesses, trainers and educators on what priorities should be that is detailed in the Manchester Work and Skills Strategy.

The Board would like your views on whether the suggested objectives and priorities will deliver the right outcomes for Manchester's businesses and residents.

GMCDP need you to help with a comic strip about disability history

Greater Manchester Coalition of Disabled People’s (GMCDP) young disabled people are working on a joint project with Manchester City Council to put an exhibition together to celebrate Disability History month.

A group of young people are meeting regularly and like the idea of putting this across in the style of a comic.

If you are a young disabled person 18-30, live within Greater Manchester and would like to come along and see how you can be part of this exciting project please get in touch.

16 days of street art action 2015 - Pillars of the community

On each day of the international campaign, running from 25 November 2015 to 10 December 2015, ’16 days of action to end violence against women’ a piece of street art depicting a revolutionary woman will appear on street pillars on Oldham Street in Manchester city centre. The pillars will remain decorated until 30 January 2016.

This action aims to promote the work of female artists from across the northwest and celebrate some of the lesser-known female icons of past and present.

It is with great sadness that we have to announce that Vera Martins, former Chief Executive at 42nd Street, sadly died on Sunday 13th September 2015.

Vera was much loved and respected by colleagues, friends and family and made a huge difference to the lives of thousands of young people in her 11 years as Chief Executive at 42nd Street.

Consultations launched into voluntary sector role in health and care

Two consultations have been published to help to determine the future of voluntary sector involvement in health and care.

As part of the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) review, respondents from the voluntary and health and social care sectors will give their views on the current state of partnership working, and how closer collaboration could be fostered.

The second consultation will also seek views on the role and effectiveness of the government’s current ‘voluntary sector investment partnership’ suite of grants.

Paul Hamlyn Foundation – Youth Fund
