Hi, and welcome to the new VYM Blog. Although this is entered as Ross’s blog, VYM is much more than Ross Grant, but more of that later. In particular though, it is also Sarah Gilston, VYM’s much valued Communication Support Worker, without whom you would receive very limited communication from VYM, and there's the Board of Trustees that governs and supports VYM staff.
All Community Engagement
NCVO has released the results of their annual joint report with the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF). The findings are stark. They show a real terms 20% fall in donations to charities during the past year. Fewer people are giving and those who do are giving less. And this is against a backdrop of spending cuts and rising demand for services. Whilst the picture for individual charities varies this overall view of the sector is concerning.
We are looking for people from local voluntary and community groups to join the Board of the new Voluntary and Community Sector Assembly for Manchester.
In the workshop at the Macc to the Future event in late September, it was generally agreed to get on with setting up the Assembly, we should seek to establish a Board by recruitment for the first year. This Board will then be subject to election at the Assembly’s first Annual Event in September 2013.
