From Crisis Care to Despair - Lives in jeopardy over poor crisis treatment for the mentally ill

A recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) national research report has shown that 86% of adults surveyed felt dissatisfied with their treatment in crisis care.

Manchester Mental Health Charter Alliance has been commissioned by NHS North, Central and South Manchester Clinical Commissioning Groups to engage with service users and carers who have experienced crisis.

Heritage Lottery Fund - Skills for the Future

The Skills for the Future programme helps organisations deliver paid training placements to meet skills shortages in the heritage sector and to help diversify the workforce.

The Skills for the Future programme is focused on creating paid, high quality opportunities for new entrants to the heritage sector, and helping to sustain the heritage sector in the longer term.

Grants range from £100,000-£750,000.

Cancer and Mental Well-being engagement events

Macmillan Cancer Support is currently undertaking a number of engagement events to look at issues relating to mental well-being and cancer. This information will be used to inform the future work of Macmillan’s ‘cancer and mental health taskforce’. The taskforce is looking at what cancer patients and carers say about their emotional experiences, the support they get for these, and any extra support they might appreciate.

Lung Health Check - Focus Group

A new lung health check service is currently being offered through a pilot project to local residents across Manchester who are registered with particular GP practices. Alongside provision of the health check Manchester Clinical Commissioning Group is seeking feedback from individuals about this new service.

You are invited to a discussion group if you are:
• Aged 55-74 years old?
• A smoker or an ex-smoker?
• Someone who’s not had lung cancer?
• Registered with a GP in Manchester?
